Brandon Opalka
In his work, Brandon seeks to explore the intersection of painting and embroidery to express the beauty and complexity of nature.
Through the use of vivid colors and intricate stitch work, he creates a sense of movement and growth that speaks to the dynamic energy of the natural world.
His work is both decorative and contemplative, inviting the viewer to slow down and appreciate the delicate balance of our ecosystem, serving as a reminder of the importance of preserving and protecting our environment.
Opalka has a current collection for sale featuring three stunning embroidered pieces. They evoke movement, like being in a club all night long. Self-taught, Brandon labors over each piece with an initial layer of paint, then airbrush, and finally yarn. His early murals share this style, marking a seamless transition from large to medium format.
Brandon hails from Miami, where he came up and helped create the legendary MSG crew. His work has been on display in Miami, as well as in Denver and France. He has been deeply intertwined with neü folk since 2018 when we worked together on hanging a show. More recently, we opened a pop-up gallery space in 2023 together, Room 220, in Denver.
